McClaren flies accross the globe to watch Hollywood Utd?

While his rivals for his position, Wright Phillips, Lennon and Bentley all started Premiership games this weekend, Steve McClaren chose to fly 5500 miles, half way around the world, to bizarrely watch David Beckham play in a Charity match against ‘Hollywood United’ at 3am this morning!

The FA supposedly hadn’t heard that this trip was taking place, and the question must be asked, why the England coach didn’t just give Beckham a call to check on his fitness and watch Man City vs Sunderland tonight?

Instead he chose to watch Beckham play against a team who’s previous friendlies have included one against the British Press when they flocked to LA in the summer!

On a similar note, it was revealed that in the aftermath to this farcical game, that LA Galaxy are now on the lookout for a new manager. Will it be long before the FA are also hunting for a new coach?

  1. I have to agree wholeheartedly with you. It baffles the mind to be honest. When considering that Galxy were playing a team best suited to the Blue Square North division, it doesnt really offer the greatest of insights into what Beckham can offer England over the next few months.

On the subject of McClaren’s future in the post, it has to be assumed he will be out of a job if we fail to qualify.

  2. Steve McLaren is a football genius! (Hints of sarcasm)! Surely he knows enough about Beckham by now. I don’t understand his obsession! Yes, I’m biased and think Bentley should be in there, but he should at least be keeping his eye on the up and coming players instead of the over the hill ones.
